My mistaken belief that I’m trying to eradicate

Inspired by a quote from the film “Tenet,” the author reflects on a deeply ingrained, self-limiting belief developed over 15 years as an employee: the idea that he is only capable of selling others’ products and lacks the competence or right to create something valuable under his own name. He describes this lack of self-belief as a major obstacle that restricts his actions and potential.

The Plan for Change

To overcome this, the author has established a two-part plan with a deadline of the end of 2026. First, he will radically limit his external income by stopping the sale of others’ products and services to eliminate his dependency and “cut off his escape route.” Second, he will focus on “productizing” himself by creating and selling his own valuable offerings. The goal is not only financial independence but also to gain tangible proof that his creations are useful and valued by others, something he feels is impossible to gauge with free content.

First Step and Core Motivation

As the first concrete step in this new direction, he is launching a new, cohort-based version of his productivity course, “Proven Productivity.” This action aligns with his primary reason for leaving his traditional job: to achieve true independence. The author concludes that creating and controlling one’s own products is the only way to gain full control and avoid the compromises inherent in working for others, making independence a more valuable goal than simply having more freedom or flexibility.

Mentoring question

What self-limiting belief, perhaps formed during your career, might be holding you back from creating or pursuing something entirely your own?
